Better Off Now?

Dear American,

Where do you live?

How do you turn your lights on? Check out how , and

Are you confident your job will be there for you?  How about your pension?

Are you comfortable with a down economy?  Check out the

And

What are we going to do about the , , , and control over our health-care decisions that will soon complicate our lives due to the government takeover of the health-care industry?

And are we certain that are helping us on a national security level?

Americans are living in great fear and anxiety over the uncertainty this administration is causing.  Without a doubt, not only are we not better off, we are pissed off.

Republicans Cannot Wait Until The Weekend Before Voting To Rake Obama Over The Coals

In 2008, the weekend before the Presidential vote, Fox News and various alternative media found and exploited damning words for the coal industry uttered by Barack Obama in January of that year.

“Whatever technologies out there that are being presented, whatever power plants are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market, and the ratcheted down caps that are being imposed every year, so if someone wants to build a coal power plant they can, it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’ll be charged a huge sum for all that green house gas that’s being emitted….Under my plan, of a cap and trade system, the electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.”

Part of the reason that the Republicans didn’t bring up the interview by the San Franisisco Chronicle until 10 months after it happened, I suspect, is because John McCain didn’t want to hammer Obama. Shame.

But now, after 4 years of his war on coal, and his appearances in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia, and with all the buzz of the vulnerable swing states, we must attack now and remind voters what he has done to absolutely devastate their future.

The question is not just if we are, as the Reagan saying goes, “better off now than 4 years ago,” the question is what will happen 4 years from now?

A record number of coal plants were shut down in America this year. . At the same time, new coal plants can’t be built because of standards written by the EPA throughout the Obama reign that make it impossible for even the best in technology to meet. The EPA is working tirelessly to implement cap and trade restrictions because the legislation did not make it through Obama’s Democrat controlled legislature in 2009. On top of these mind-blowing facts, the industry will shut down 175 more plants from 2012-2015.

Skyrocketing isn’t the term, it’s intended devastation.

Not to mention the coal plants that aren’t being built. The Sierra Club boasts of 150 that have been shut down in the past five years, and as an eye-witness to their operation, let me tell you they are

Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio are three states that just happen to be with the same power grid who announced in May the prices for the purchase of megawatts.

“Last week PJM Interconnection, the company that operates the electric grid for 13 states (Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia) held its 2015 capacity auction. These are the first real, market prices that take Obama’s most recent anti-coal regulations into account, and they prove that he is keeping his 2008 campaign promise to make electricity prices “necessarily skyrocket.”
The market-clearing price for new 2015 capacity – almost all natural gas – was $136 per megawatt. That’s eight times higher than the price for 2012, which was just $16 per megawatt. In the mid-Atlantic area covering New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and DC the new price is $167 per megawatt. For the northern Ohio territory served by FirstEnergy, the price is a shocking $357 per megawatt.”

Eight and a half times more in one year, or if you are in northern Ohio, 22 times more. How do you think Americans will survive that?

While everyone is talking about the economy now, what do you think will happen when the electricity bill is bigger than the mortgage you can’t afford?

It doesn’t matter what age, color, sex, religion, ethnicity, or whatever group Obama and his minions put us in. We cannot function with electricity rates that high.

The administration says that solar and wind will take over, and the failure of that suggestion was predictable and it is embarrassing that anyone should suggest we continue funding failure.

On the other hand, the Romney campaign needs a solution that will be put into effect retroactively to erase the strangling the EPA is forcing down the industry’s throats. You can tout natural gas all you want, but we still need to build natural gas and coal plants and stop retiring old ones.

We are in serious trouble, and all of humanity will suffer. We can’t wait to inform America what this putrid excuse for a President is doing to us.

Obama And Irony In Iron Country

Obama was in Marquette, Michigan last week, he ate some candy and a fatty burger, then he went to Northern Michigan University, and made me pause.

…decades later, FDR set up the Rural Electrification Administration to help bring power to vast swaths of America that were still in darkness. Companies said that building lines to rural areas would be too costly. I mean, big cities already had electricity. But they said, it’s too costly to go out into remote areas.

Yes, FDR started the Tennessee Valley Authority, which is right now the largest public power company in the nation, a great monument to “big government can-do attitude.”

The same Tennessee Valley Authority is for the ability to burn coal.

Ironic that the flourishes of failed President Obama are starting to resemble those of his.

“When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed.  He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened.'”  Biden said.

There were no TV’s then, FDR wasn’t President then, and everyone did not have electricity then.  The ironic part is that Obama’s entire speech in Marquette, Michigan was an attempt at proving that government infrastructure improvements help better our lives and the 4G broadband exemplified by NMU is just the ticket to the next big government improvement.  But when that government’s energy policy is one of constriction, tell me again how big government is great?
As we clearly can see, FDR’s socialist path of top-down centralized power can still struggle when a Marxist takes the reigns of the country.
But what of the 4G wireless at NMU?  How much does it cost?  Who is paying for it? If we all are going to get it by 2016, like Obama says, who’s to say there won’t be 16G available by then?  Just sayin’.  The government cannot keep up, we all end up overpaying, and as the TVA can attest, in time, we may all be in court fighting for our rights to be connected in the first place.
(Marquette County, Michigan is indeed a very naturally beautiful and friendly place to be, as well as home to some of the first Iron Mines in Michigan.)
